No one will admit to slacking in the art department as quickly as I will! What I mean to say is: I've been slacking in the art department lately. It's not that I haven't been doing anything important. Let me tell you what I've been doing instead of making stuff.
Well, I did paint some surfaces, as told on this post.
Watched Dark Shadows, collection 14, disks 1 through 4
Hosted a friend for a few days
Watched Work of Art, Top Chef, Next Food Network Star, Design Star, Chopped, and Master Chef
Went to see Inception
Read Blogs and wrote a few blog posts
Sorted all my CDs and boxed them up to get rid of
Prepared canvases for planned paintings, but didn't paint them
Ate Dreyer's Grand Light Caramel Swirl ice cream
Went to work
(In that order.)
Well, if you referred to the post about the painted surfaces (link above), you will now see the completed bookmarks made from some of those surfaces. How darn exciting!!
And if THAT isn't enough, I have been carrying this bag around all week,
for the moment during any day which could arise wherein I might be able to work on this crusade. I can't WAIT to work on that! I'm going to combine my work on that crusade with the previous crusade, which I missed in June. Yeah. You heard me right. I'm going to take this collection of papers:
And make TWO pieces with it! You thought you had to watch Iron Chef America to see that kind of multi-tasking. But, clearly, no. It's right here.
Michelle Ward, who hosts the above-mentioned crusades, has taught me to save all my scraps of paper from completed projects, because they can always come into play in some future project. This bag of goodies represents only a fraction of what I have in my paper scraps container. I LOVE my scraps! Do you save your scraps? And I mean, all of them--the dyed paper towels, the torn tissue papers, the painted cardstock, the lettering, the practice sketches and doodles... SAVE them! If they have your original touches, they are invaluable.
I have to go make my first grid for the crusade, and finish disk three of season one of How I Met Your Mother. I tell you, I'm behind on everything.

I love that last pic. I think it is a work of art as is.
ReplyDeleteYou have been one busy girl!!
My God, you have so many plates spinning in the air, guess you MUST eat ice-cream to keep your strength up. Those are seriously groovy bookmarks - lovely work!
ReplyDeleteI'm exhausted just reading about your life. Add to that the fact that you arise, chirping, well before dawn, and we can see plainly why the gods will never allow us to be within two miles of one another. You'd never notice, but I'd explode in a fiery chaos just from the proximity.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the book marks!
ReplyDeleteOk this is soooo out of my area of ability but,I'm in the process of re-invention so be patient with a beginner.I might have to read this blog a dozen times before a get the jest of it.
