I want to tell you a story. Unfortunately, I can't, because there's this little court-ordered thing going on, but just take it from me, it's good.
There is so much goodness over at Seth's site (linked in first paragraph) that it's not even covered by medical insurance. Everyone would be hoarding it. Single-handedly, The Altered Page addiction would keep A&E in reality series through the next decade and make instant celebs of millions of people who just. Can't. Help it.
I don't know if I've adequately covered the issue, but maybe it's a show-and-tell kind of thing. Which brings me to this! Seth, like Santa, is making a list. And he's checking it about 437 times, because that's about how many people are going to want to be on it, and he's going to have to keep adding and adding and keeping track and going back to add more, and if you don't go to his site (linked three paragraphs back), you're going to miss out.
Seth's asking about collections. He asked (in controlled circumstances, under surveillance by local authorities), 'What is it that you just have to collect? Which you must have lots of. What is it that gets you all weirded out?' (I paraphrase.)
Well, of course, I'm on board. And you can be, too, if you act fast. Here's the thing: we don't often get to admit that we get weirded out about stuff. Any place else, it's kind of frowned upon. But not over at Seth's site (linked 5-1/2 paragraphs earlier)! At The Altered Page, weirded-outness is celebrated!
So. Here are my must-get-more-ofs. I have three. Well, I have more, but the magazines were too heavy to lift, the snorkels are out in the shed, and the wombats won't stay in one place for more than a couple of seconds, so I'm just showing three.
1. Mark-Making Implements
Am I right?
2. Moo Cards and Little Handwritten Notes
Ironically, these are all from Seth. 'Course, I had to pay him to send them to me, because he actually has no idea who the heck I am.
3. Mixed Media Work by Seth Apter
The business cards and notes had these things attached!
Can you believe how amazing my Apter collection is?! And every time he makes something else that's one of a kind, gorgeous, and completely different from what anyone else makes, my collection gets more and more valuable. Of course, that's not the important thing. Why would you even think about money at a time like this? You're not the person I thought I knew.
Whew! Getting these obsessions out in the open like this was much easier for one of us than I had expected!
So. What do you get all weirded-out about?
What a fun collection! Thanks for sharing this with us!!
ReplyDeletevery fun writing, and funny too.
ReplyDeletebtw, what is a Moo card?
(i know i could do the research, but i was hoping you could tell me . . .)

ReplyDeletefunny! love that you are collecting Seth!!
ReplyDeleteI call him, Sethipoo, whih I am sure he adores.
ReplyDeleteNot.
He may be up for the craft equivalent of a Nobel Prize.
It got thru, thanks for persevering ;) Now instead of trowing your computer out, go stroke one of your collections...or something!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing these wonderful pieces of artwork made by Seth and his accompanying moo cards. What a special collection to own and cherish. The art marking instruments are also super- certainly enough colors to make a gorgeous rainbow on a grey rainy day!
ReplyDeleteI love your Seth collection. I'm jealous. I only have two. But, I think he's pretty all right too.

Oh!! I love your collection of Seth's art... and this post is wonderful and fun and funny and YOU are wonderful too! (cool pens too!)
ReplyDeleteSending you smiles and grins... roxanne
your Seth collection is way cool! your mark-making tools collection looks pretty organized...mine is pretty much all over the place. I get weirded-out by Buddha heads, but that's just me...but having a reproduction Egyptian princess head -- that's just fine, don't you think?
ReplyDeleteYou are a funny writer! And I love your writing implements.
ReplyDeleteHmmm ... now I want to collect Seth Apter Moo cards!
ReplyDeleteYou got all of that from SETH??? Whoa. I'm impressed... These are all wonderful, but I have to tell you that your prose was worth the visit. I'm no wordsmith, but you obviously are. Now - back to read the other two!
